Japan on the Road
- Teaching Elementary Students about Contemporary Japan
Introducing Keiko and Yasuo
We'd like to introduce you to Keiko and Yasuo! They are part of a school visitation program designed by the Japan-America Society of Oregon called Japan on the Road : Teaching Elementary Students about Contemporary Japan. The program follows Keiko and Yasuo throughout their day. The students see them at home, in school, playing with friends and studying. And by the end of the program, the students will have gained a better understanding and appreciation of the similarities and differences that exist between Japanese and American cultures.
If you would like to volunteer, please complete

Messages from Teachers
The Japan on the Road program is a "highlight" in our third grade curriculum. It is something the kids will never forget. Thank you so much for all the effort and time you put forth to make this an exceptional program. ---Lynda Loos, John McLoughlin
The kids absolutely had a blast with you and your activities and learned lots of new things about Japan. The hands-on activities and slide show allowed them to stop into the world of living in Japan and I believe they got a better idea of what life is like there. Your program is very valuable to our study of Japan and would be incomplete without it. ---April Murrell, Aloha Park
